cannot stay away from junk food!

Ok ladies, I am in need of a major food intervention here. Before I got pg I considered myself to be a pretty healthy eater and I worked out very regularly 4+ days at the gym plus daily walks with my dogs.Once I found out I was pg though my eating has been out of control to put it mildly. I have been indulging in every single craving I have- queso and chips, pizza, baked goods, sugary cereal you name it! I have been feeling much better in my second tri and have begun working out regularly again but I am still eating terrible. Does anyone have some words of wisdom or ideas on how I can reign in my junk food cravings?

  • I'm probably not a good person to answer this...I started getting ice cream cravings in my 2nd tri and still indulge daily!  But I think the key is moderation.  Maybe you could make sure you eat something healthy first.  Have a salad then have a few chips with queso.

  • I had the same cravings, and worked out all through my second and third trimesters and I gained almost 50lbs, so maybe that will discourage you. I will say I have lost all the weight, but it really sucked right after I had DD, I hated being that heavy!

  • Well today my lunch consisted of Chick-fil-a nuggets, waffle fries and a side of fried okra.  BUT, i wanted a hamburger too, so I also went and got a jr. bacon cheeseburger from Wendy's.  I felt like I was on a tv show for food-aholics.

    Really, I wanted a mini-buffet of the above plus a slice of pizza, a few wings, a soft taco or two and I'd nead a cookie of course for dessert!  Good thing that would involved way too much work to get all of these cravings!

  • I gained 60lbs with my DD, and I lost 20 after she was born. It took me a year to lose the other 40 and then some... just remember, in the end, it catches up to you! I regret every Slurpee and burger.

  • Ugh I hear you! I didn't have a problem with this until the last few weeks, but we've had a constant stream of people in town and been going out to eat all the time. I am a vegetarian so my most of the time I am stuck ordering fries or something fried because salad, veggies, and tofu (which I loved more than anything in the world pre pregnancy) are making me gag. Luckily I haven't put on an innapropriate amount of weight, but I know the weight gain can strike at any time! Maybe get that eat this-not that book. It gives good advice on better alternatives to all the bad foods we love!

  • its all about moderation like dh doesn't want me eating to many sweets. So I eat fruit, dinner tonight was chicken asparagus fetchuini and salad. later im gonna eat a mango. eat what you want but just a bit.
