Easter basket ideas

Since we don't want to give Evan candy, I was trying to come up with ideas his Easter basket. Since he still puts everything in his mouth I don't have many unique ideas. I was thinking about books, a toy car, and maybe some sunglasses.

Any other ideas?

Re: Easter basket ideas

  • Last year when my son was one, I filled his basket with those empty plastic eggs.  I had a board book and a stuffed bunny in there too, but he had so much fun just opening and closing all those little eggs!

Still working on ideas for this year... I don't think empty eggs are gonna cut it this year, but don't want to fill it with candy either.  I found some egg-shaped sidewalk chalk, and some crayons and a coloring book.  Maybe I'll add bubbles too?

  • We don't give DD candy either so her easter eggs will be filled with goldfish and Annie's fruit snacks (just like the ones I sent to her MDO for their hunt) and she's getting books, a small toy, and some water shoes for the splash pad.
  • goldfish, fruit gummies, cherrios, hot wheels, stickers, bubbles, stuffed animals, easter bunny ears, small bath toys.

  • I'm torn - DS just had a bday, so he already has tons of crap.  I am thinking of not getting anything (**gasp!**) just b/c I don't need another stuffed animal or random trinkets I will step on!  Nor does he need any candy!  Maybe some books would be ok - I'll try to keep it simple.
  • I got bath toys for DD (9 months), books and some yogurt bites and other snacks she likes.
  • Great ideas, ladies!

CareBear - I know what you mean. Evan just had his birthday too and he already has a good collection of random stuffed animals. I wasn't really planning on doing anything, but my mom started talking about what she was going to bring him. I at least need to have the basket with a few things since she bought his basket last year and said it was something we could use every year.

  • Last year I got some of the Gerber snacks that he loved, a pair of Crocs, a swim suit and rash guard, books and bubbles. I think I got him a couple of toys too.

  • DD's a bit older, but I'll have in her Easter basket some huge stamps (with big handles) with a big rainbow stamping pad, some stamper markers, an egg of Silly Putty, some foam stickers, and a toy broom (she has been asking for one ~ strange child) ~ a lot of outside-ish toys because we love spending time outside.  She is 3 so I'll probably get her some candy, but only a couple of small things since I'll probably be putting some M&Ms in her easter eggs for our hunt here Easter morning.

I like the idea of fruit snacks, too...she is a fruit snack FIEND.  Also, I'm loving the idea of water shoes, but she does already have a pair of Crocs...cute ideas!

  • We got Ally a bunch of travel and church toys (quiet stuff, travel size stuff for our trip next month).  We also got her two Easter books (more on the religious side than the Easter bunny).

  • oh yeah...forgot to add that I got her a Lil Kinz polar bear.  The girls are both into webkinz animals and so I've been getting it for them.

  • DD is getting Candyland and the cupcake playfood set from IKEA - I bought both of them at Christmas and decided I had too much so I held onto them and meant to give her one at Valentines and forgot.

DS is getting a little toy truck and... something I haven't come up with yet.

And they are both getting books. Very little candy.

May I recommend not buying a toy broom? They are SO ANNOYING and it just makes DD mad because they don't really sweep anything because the bristles are plastic. But at Home Depot (and other stores I'm sure), you can buy a "lobby broom" which is not much bigger than a toy broom but is a REAL broom that actually works. And I've seen some in crazy fun prints like a zebra pattern broom.

  • Last year I got C some books and some bath toys.  This year I'm getting a water table, but only because I was going to buy one anyway.  I'll probably throw in another book and some snacks.
  • Where are you ladies getting the water shoes from?

Alas, it isn't going to happen. I have searched everywhere and they don't make them in small sizes. I think size 5 was the smallest I found and they looked huge. So I guess she'll be barefoot at the pool and splash pad.

Edit - I began searching online (not a fan of getting them online) and it seems Target has some infant ones. I was there today and didn't see any but it says my local store has them. Hmph. Going to visit them again tomorrow.

Thanks you I really didn't want to get them online either.  I looked at Target while on my lunch break. Of course they are out of boys in his size already.  I did find a pair of Crocs that I think will work just fine and picked those up for him.  My boy has big feet Surprise.  We may also look at Stride Rite at the Outlet next we are there.
