3rd Trimester

Our baby is going to be HUGE!!!!

So I went into the doctor today, and informed him that I've been feeling a little less movement lately. So first he hooked me up to a monitor. Baby was sleeping, so to get a better look we did a quick ultrasound.

Baby is healthy, and happy but measuring in the 95th percentile!!!! She is 5 pds. 4 ounces, and measuring at 35 weeks, (I'm only 31 weeks along).

Dr. says it's just genetics, because I don't have gestational diabetes.

He says I'll probably have to be induced at 39 weeks. CRAZY!!!!

BTW she is too cute, and looks just like her dad.

  • GL! LO is estimated at 8 lbs already. I am 5'1 and barely 140 lbs NOW! DH is 6'3 I just don't know where this kid is finding room to still grow!?!? Dr said "oh girl, i  won't cut him out unless he is 12 lbs" I wanted to slap her, honestly!!!! :/

(not that I want a c-section, I just don't wanna break my hips and hearing 12lbs is just SCARY! lol)

  • Take it all with a grain of salt - I had three different ultrasounds with LO measuring in the 98th percentile. She was estimated at 8lbs 2oz at our 36wk scan. I was told over and over again she would be at least 9lbs. My OB even told the resident, as they were wheeling me to the OR for a c-section, that she was probably too big for a natural delivery.

After all was said and done I was handed a healthy, but not overly large, 7lb6oz baby girl. Good luck!

My cousin measured 37 weeks at 31 weeks and was estimated to have a 10lb+ baby. He was only 8lbs 8oz.

I also measured 35cm at 31wks and now am measuring 38wks at 33wks. DH is 6'8" so im sure LO will be big but my MW said we won't talk planned c section until they think there's a really good chance he's 10-12lbs and even then she'd let me make the decision. Love her!

  • Big babies are awesome!  Dd was 9 lbs 6 oz, and I'm 5 ft nothing, and pretty petite.  I felt like super woman, and still do :)  You never know what your body is capable of, so try not to worry about it too much.

Big babies are usually good eaters and sleepers too- as I knock on wood frantically hoping this time around is similar :)

  • I'm anxious to see what my LO will be like! DH is 6'3 also and was 9 lbs at birth. I was only a squeeze over 5 lbs, so we'll see!
  • I gave birth to a 13lbs. baby girl on April 3rd!

We were pretty sure she was going to be a big baby based on the fact I was measuring 49 weeks when I was 38 weeks along.  I wouldn't have thought she was going to be 13lbs. though.  My first was 9lbs5oz.

    Thank goodness I had a c-section!

  • Take this for what its worth im a small person and only weighed about 140 pregnant and my doctor told me I was having a easy 9 -10 pound baby ....my son came out 7.7 pounds and only 18 inches long he wore preemie clothes for a month he was so small . I was terrified and ended up having this tiny little human lol .
