Still using the crib mobile?

I don't even realize that I do it! But every time she goes down for a nap or down for the night I wind it up and lay her down. When did you stop using your crib mobile?

Re: Still using the crib mobile?

  • We never had a mobile, but we had a Fisher Price Aquarium with lights and music that we used until we moved DD to a bed, so about 2 years & 3 months. Every once in a while, I would hear DD turn the aquarium on by herself in the middle of the night and put herself back to sleep, so I didn't want to ditch it any earlier.

  • We followed the manufacturer's instructions and took the crib mobile down when DD was 5 months.  It's a strangulation hazard.

  • Gosh, I think the mobile came down at 6 1/2 months when she started cruising!

  • We took it down when he started standing in the crib, since he would yank on it.

  • We took the actual mobile down but we still use the music box part.  I just having it laying on his dresser.  I think he would be ok without, but it is habit.  Also, I think it is kind of wearing our because it is getting slower.
  • DS would have that thing ripped off the crib by now! No way could he still have a mobile. We took it down at about 6 months.

  • Yeah I think it's supposed to be taken down at 5 or 6 months when they can sit up. I never had one ...we still use her sleep sheep though.
  • We have the Fisher Price Precious Planet mobile/projection thing, and we took the mobile part down when he could pull up in the crib, but the projection thing we stopped using the other day when the batteries died and we didn't have any to replace them. It seems to be going well so far.

  • As soon as he was able to reach it, we had to take it out.
