visiting Orange County--favorite beach rec'?

We're going to a wedding in Costa Mesa in May. We're going to make it a long weekend and would love to visit some gorgeous beaches with our 2 year old. We live in San Fran Bay area, so we're excited for some warmer beaches! Any rec's?? We are limited on time, so we might want to visit 1 or 2 beaches to spend the day there. Thanks!!!

I love Salt Creek! It's a bit of a walk from the parking lot, but it's just lovely!

I also enjoy Corona Del Mar State Beach.

Newport Beach is the closest beach To Costa Mesa. The Newport Penn. has a fun zone, shopping and a ton of other activities. The Balboa pier has a great beach and a Ruby's restaurant at the end of the pier. At the base of the Pier is a great park. Have fun!
