When did you start lifting after csection?

My c section was 2 weeks ago yesterday, and since I could start driving yesterday, we went to the grocery store, but my sister was there to help me lift the carrier in and out of the car. Today I went to the mall briefly, but I lifted the carrier and stroller in and out of the car.  Some things say wait 6-8 weeks to carry or lift anything heavier than the baby, but I feel like I cant be trapped in the house for that long by myself not going anywhere because I am not supposed to lift the carrier. Most of the time I wont have people to help me though.

When did you start lifting the carrier by yourself, if you have started? TIA!

  • I have been lifting since my 2 week check...mostly the carrier and stroller. I would say if it doesnt hurt you and you arent lifting some crazy amount of weight...you should be fine.
  • Even with my complications my ob said I could lift the carrier.  He said not to exceed the weight of the baby in the carrier but I am allowed to carry LO in his carrier.  I haven't yet since DH is off work and I haven't had my 2 week check but I am allowed to.

  • I was told nothing over 15 pounds until 6 weeks. I did lift the stroller and carrier earlier and I noticed that I started bleeding more heavily that night so, I must have over done it.

  • I had my c/s 4 weeks ago. I was told at my 2 week check to only lift the baby- no carrier- until after my 6 week appt. I have abided by that rule. When I took LO to the dr. for her check up, I took her out of the car seat and carried her into the clinic. My DH does all the heavy lifting right now.
  • I'm 3 weeks pp, no lifting heavier than baby til 5 week check up :( can't wait to have some freedom back!
  • I was told no lifting heavier than the babies until after my 6 week check up. I can lift a carrier by itself but not with a baby in it. My husband has been doing all of the lifting for me.
