Moms with older boys and baby girls...

Should I or did you keep any of the baby boy clothes like pants/jeans/shoes for the new baby girl to wear if they are not boyish? Other than gender neutral gowns and such. I wasn't sure about fit with baby girls vs boys. We aren't planning to have more children. Thanks!

  • I saved every.last.article of clothing that DS wore.  In addition to the gender neutral stuff, DD has worn some of his blue bibs and socks with airplanes, etc.  I plan to pull out his light weight sleepers (sports related) for her to wear also.  I wouldn't hesitate to put her in a pair of jeans or shoes if they weren't overly boyish.  I also pulled out some of DS's holiday shirts and "baby's first _____" stuff for DD.

  • We got a ton of hand-me-down boy clothes (all of DD's closest cousins are boys).  I just sorted out the gender neutral things (pants and such) and they seem to fit her just fine, and when paired with girly stuff you'd never know it was boys clothes.  We also saved some of the sleepers and onesies that were boyish and in good condition and used them at night, or put the onesies under things when I needed to layer her.
  • I kept a lot of Hudson's gender neutral stuff, but it was amazing how boyish and not gender neutral it all seemed once she was here! So although I had intentions of her wearing some of his things even keeping jeans and jackets, I think Georgia has worn a few onsies and a couple lightweight sleepers. It was amazing the amount of clothes we got from friends and family when she was born, and then once you allow yourself to start buying over in the girls section it's difficult to restrain yourself:) so different from only having a few racks of options for boys!

  • Thanks everyone!  That is what I was thinking, but didn't know if it would be weird to keep some of his things for Isabella (!!!) to wear.  I will see how gender neutral I think things are after going through Ethan's old clothes!!
