email resume as word doc or pdf?

Anyone know what the standard is nowadays?  I used to send word, but doesn't pdf do better as an email attachment?

No preference from the recipient, because DH is sending the resume unsolicited to the safety office at his job.  I am not seriously pursuing a job there and I figure it will get deleted, but it will make him happy to send it.

DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.

Re: email resume as word doc or pdf?

  • I don't think it matters b/c no one will want to make changes. From my experience, I have only seen word doc resumes when people come for an interview with us. Never seen a resume in a pdf format.

  • Between the two, .PDF is a better presentation IMO

  • I would attach it as a PDF.
  • I always did word docs.
  • I've always sent them as word documents.  Every once in a while, I run across people that can't open pdfs (go figure).  If I send it in Word, I don't have to worry about them just tossing it.
  • PDF - then there's no worries about formatting getting screwed up, and while the software to un-pdf is cheap and I use mine almost daily at work, I like the idea that someone would have to work a bit to mess around with my document.
