UTI Anyone?

Anyone have a UTI so far during pregnancy?  Did you have symptoms?  If so, what were they?  I sort of feel like I may, but then again, i remember normal pregnancy feelings being similar last time.  I am nowhere near my dr. (location) right now, so I can't just pop on over there to check.

Re: UTI Anyone?

  • I would call your doctor and tell them what you're feeling to see if you need to come in.  If it is a UTI you want to get that treated right away.  I thought I had one earlier in my pregnancy, but after speaking to my doctor and being tested it turned out it was just the baby pushing on my bladder.  I had to pee often, like I would go and then immediately feel like I had to go again.  I did not have any burning or pain during it though.

  • I barely had any symptoms about 2 weeks ago...just a "feeling" that I had one, and sure enough I did.  Went through the 7 days of antibiotics...just to then get a raging yeast infection afterwards.

  • The 2 times I've had UTIs in pregnancy, I've had no symptoms. They just tell me after they run a routine culture at my appts. It's very weird.

My previous, pre-preg UTIs consisted of ridiculous burning whenever I peed and feeling the need to pee constantly, even if nothing came out. I had my most recent at the very beginning (before 6 weeks). I had to pee a lot (normal for me), and then I got horrible menstrual like cramps for about 2 weeks. Thought it was my period coming for awhile. Try drinking lots of water and cranberry juice til you can get over to see your doc.

  • I had an undiagnosed UTI for several weeks.  My only symptoms were lots of uternine cramping and urinary frequency which, unfortunately, sounds an awful lot like normal pregnancy symptoms.  I had no pain during urination, which I typically associate with a UTI.

If you suspect a UTI, I would either pick up a home testing kit or go in to your doctor's office for a quick check.  Not to freak you out, but there are some studies out there that linked untreated UTI's with higher miscarriage rates.

    Good luck!

  • I've had 2 non-pregnancy ones that both consisted of burning and having to pee non-stop so bad and then nothing coming out, and in one of the 2 I had a fever and terrible headache.

I just got done with the antibiotics for one 2 days ago, and hardly had any symptoms compared with the amount I had for previous ones. All I had was really, really low (like in between the legs) pelvic pressure. It didn't hurt, just pressure. It went on for 2 weeks because I thought it was the baby because I always feel my baby really low in my abdomen and it was low on the ultrasound, across my lower abdomen. I called the on-call doctor about a week ago though because one day I felt the pressure more frequently during the day and more intensely like I had my girl parts pulling away from my body (?lol). The on-call dr. told me to come in that night to the triage or go in first thing in the morning, that it was up to me to make the decision so I went in and they found out I had a slight one. I also had a trace of protein and blood in my urine, but the labs said I didn't have phenotypes (? I can't remember) so I was ok. But I've also saw online that UTI's can go into premature labor.

  • Yup...had a UTI a few weeks ago with no symptoms.  Had no idea until the doctor's office called to let me know. Before being pregnant, the UTIs I had were incredibly painful (and TMI - urine had an odor).

Try to get a test done as soon as you can, but in the mean time drink lots of water / pure cranberry juice is good too (not the juice cocktails) to keep the flow movin' on outward.

Hopefully its just regular pregnancy symptoms!!
