Just wondering if you've done it for example to pay for gas or get food.
DH is traveling tonight and DS wants pizza. I'd love to be able to just run to Little Ceasers and just pick up a hot an ready. Yes I could just take the kids in with me, but the thought trying to hand hold B while having D in the carrier, while walking with a hot pizza....I'd rather just call a different place for delivery.
Seems kind of silly to me, I should be able to park right outside the place, locks my doors, run in, and watch from the large window for the whole 3 minutes it takes. However seeing that Dr Phil segment a couple of years back about how police were called after a woman ran into get gas, yeah, I think we'll just do delivery.
Re: Leaving kids in the car
i don't. i pay for gas with my card (at the pump) and i simply don't go out for food (to avoid the hassle)
i had to run into the post office once- literally took me 2 minutes- but i still had to unload the girls & the stroller (the infant seat is freaking heavy)
such a pita- but worth it so no one snatches my kids or get me thrown in jail!
look at the birds | bless this food
I don't feel comfortable leaving Joy in the car if I'm going to be more then 3 steps from the car. I probably won't think nothing of it if I saw a mother run in to grab pizza but I just couldn't do it myself.
Maybe you could call ahead and see if an employee is willing to bring the pizza to the car in exchange for a tip?
I've left DS in the car when I'm pumping gas, but I only do pay at the pump,so I'm never actually leaving the vehicle. Besides, I wouldn't want Logan outside at a gas station.
However, for anything else, I would NEVER leave him in the vehicle, even if I could see it and it was only for a second...too dangerous. So much could happen, I wouldn't even risk it.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
This!
And I've been the one to call the police on someone who left their kid in the car... A little different situation, but they could still SEE their car. We were having a garage sale and it was August. Extremely hot and the woman only left the windows cracked about 2 inches. There was a 2 year old and an infant in the car. I gave her a warning and then called the cops when she acted like it was no big deal.
I will never leave my children in the car. I pay for gas at the pump. Otherwise, if I can't do something when I have my kids with me then I don't bring them.
I was shocked when I found out my best friend leaves her kid in the car. A couple years back my friend and I went to the beach. When we came back Makayla was sound asleep.
I said: "It is a shame moving her will wake her up. She is so tired"
My friend replied: "Let her sleep in the car and check on her later. She is in the carseat she won't go anywhere. I do this with _______"
I went to pick up pizza the other day w/ Joel and another gentleman waiting for his pizza brought mine out to the car for me. Yesterday Joel and I were at Staples, one of the cashiers helped me out to the car with all the stuff I bought. I imagine someone at LC will be willing to help you out.
I wouldn't even do this with an animal! Poor babies!! A really hot car can be very dangerous!!
This exactly. I unload them every single time. I refuse to leave them in there, even for a minute.
I have left DS in the car for a few minutes in our garage while I was unloading groceries or loading the car for daycare. Both the car and the garage are locked, car is off, temperature is cool, etc.
The only time I could see it happening is if for some reason I had to drop off/pick up our dogs from daycare and I had DS. Trying to hold DS while wrangling two dogs in and out of the building would be hard. The distance from the car to the door is a straight shot of 10 feet up some steps and the doors are glass so you can see the car. I always lock my car anyways. I would probably call and see if they could help me with the dogs because I am paranoid like that.
They do in WV, too. The farthest away from my kids I get while they're in the car is pumping gas. If I have to go into the station for anything, they come with.
Never ever ever! DH left DS in the car to run into the store to buy halls when DS was 4 weeks old! I lost my mind! LOST IT! I'm sure the neighbours heard me!
Not only did I work for a missing child agency and therefore have been scared into paranoia but all I can think of is what if some drunk driver smashed into my car while he was in it?! IT HAPPENS!! People hit parked cars more then cars in motion!
It's so funny that you asked this because I was just talking to my mom about this over the weekend, and Little Ceasers specifically! I wish I could too but I won't. It is a true PIA.
Do you have a TacoBell/PizzaHut combo? You could drive through there and get pizza.
I have done this too. Like you said, the car is off, the garage is locked...and I'm running in and out of the garage to get groceries out of the car. I do this to let DS sleep a few more minutes, b/c he won't nap any other way. Otherwise, I'm with everyone else. I would never leave a baby in a car.
