Babies: 3 - 6 Months

XP: If you transitioned from SwaddleMe to Sleep Sack . . .

. . . how did you do it?  Little guy won't sleep for more than a half hour in the Sleep Sack, but breaks loose of the SwaddleMe every three hours or so during the night and wakes himself up.

Why, oh why, does the SwaddleMe not come in a larger size?  He's only 16 pounds and he can wrestle out of the one that supposedly goes up to 22 pounds!

Please share your brilliance.  Thank you.  ;-)

  • We just went for it.  We abandoned the swaddleMe because she was so over it.  Some people talked about a slow transition but we just made the switch.    The first few nights were rough (like any transition) and then she was back to her usual self.  I also put her in it for her afternoon nap so I think the consistency also helps.  How old is your little guy?  We switched at 4mths and she was definitely ready!

  • Mine stopped sleeping in a swaddle me when he was 1.5 months old. It took all his energy to breakout from the swaddle me and he hated it. We wanted to continue keeping him in the swaddle me, so we left one hand out and one hand tucked in. Then he wanted to get the tucked in hand out, so we took both hands out and only tucked his chest and he was happy. After a week or so with that, we just swap the swaddle me to a sleep sack and he was fine with the change.

  • We've been working on transitioning.... sometimes I give in and still swaddle her as she falls asleep easier and sleeps longer. Can you swaddle just one arm? Also, if you want to swaddle you can look up videos on youtube that show how to swaddle using a blanket. I've been doing that, because she was breaking out of our SwaddleMe's.

We've been trying to transition to the sleep sack for probably a week. When she's not swaddled, she thinks its playtime. Its a little more work to get her to fall asleep, but hopefully another week or two and we'll be back to normal!

Yes. LO hated arms in for his swaddle anyway (not a swaddle me but a blanket) and when he started rolling we just stopped using the swaddle and he just got used to it... granted he was been Mr. Gymnastics anyway...

  • We went the opposite way, started in sleep sacks but LO would sink down into them and they'd bunch up around her face during the night. The Swaddleme's stay on a little better. She still wriggles her little hands out of both of them sometimes, oh well. I just picked up the Large swaddleme last night and HOLY HELL is it bigger than the small/medium, so we're kinda stuck between the two sizes right now.

  • Thanks so much everyone . . . we're going to attempt alternating between the Sack for naps and swaddling with arms out for the night and see how it goes!
