Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Opposite of growth spurt=lack of eating/drinking phase?

Does this happen? I hope so and hope this is a phase. Our daughter has been on solids since she turned 5 months. She is on two meals a day and we are still offering her 6 ounce bottles/5 times a day. In the last week, she has taken a pretty big decline in her milk intake and her interest in solid foods. I am totally going with her flow and not trying to "get  her" to finish her bottles or eat more since she is sttn. But there are def days where she didnt eat much and drinks only 20 ounces.

I wonder if this is just a low growth phase? We are moving on to three meals a day in the next two weeks and I am hoping she will drop a bottle, so she will at least finish her bottles instead of only drinking 3 ounces each.

Any advice is appreciated.

  • Is she feeling ok? When Lucas had a cold he barely drank anything, I was lucky to get 15 oz into him. Maybe its teething.

  • Is she teething?

  • DS started doing this last week.  He had a cold and we found out he also had an ear infection.  His appetite has slowly picked back up, but still isn't back to what it was before his ear infection.  Since he's been on meds for his ear infection, I'm thinking he's teething.

Maybe she's teething or has an ear infection?

  • She is definitley not sick right now. She just had her six month check up last week. She is probably teething and just got over a cold. Maybe thats it. I dont know.

  • DD was like this last week - but she didn't have any symptoms so I just pushed through it.  She seemed back to normal by the weekend and so far this week.  She has been back to the 26 oz to 30 oz range per day instead of the 20 oz level she dropped to last week.

Our kids are about the same age- you all are a week a head of us and this happened to your LO last week and happening to mine this week, so this gives me hope!

  • DS did this around 5 months for several weeks.  He just wasn't that interested in nursing.  Over the past few weeks he's picked up his eating a lot (both nursing and solids).  I think they just go thru phases where they'd rather play than eat!
