Re: Warm or cool mist humidifier?

  • we do the cool bc I heard somewhere that the warm can have more bacteria.

  • I thought you were only supposed to use a cool mist one so that's what we have always used.  Seems to work ok, but we've only had the one for a few months and the filter is already moldy....annoying.  Pretty sure I have to order a new one too, can't just buy it in the store.

  • We asked the pharmacist which to buy for DD when she had a cold and he told us to get a cool mist humidifier We were standing in the humidifier in Target for 20 minutes before asking his opinion! I didn't realize there were so many choices (cool mist/warm mist, humidifier/vaporizer).

  • Might need to get a cool one because it's getting so hot here, even at night...

  • We have a cool mist one... it is from Germ Guardian, and it's SO tiny.  It sits on a table in DD's room.  I don't know if it really DOES anything when she's sick (knock on whatever, she hasn't been sick yet), but it does give off a faint blue light and keeps the room humid for sure.
