NBR persistent spotting when starting BC

I am 7 months pp and started back on the pill about 2.5 weeks ago. I started on the first day of my period. I have tried a zillion different pills over the years because I have always had breakthrough bleeding. Up until I started the pill again this time, my cycles had been great. Since starting, I had my period for a week, then a 2 day break and now I've been spotting every day for a week and a half with no end in sight! My doctor said to give it a few months when I started it, as breakthrough bleeding is common when starting the pill but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience? I don't love hormonal birth control, but we hate condoms even more and until we decide if we're done having kids, DH can't get a vasectomy. I'm just wondering if I should wait out this spotting for a while, since it's only been 2.5 weeks. WDYT? Thanks !

Re: NBR persistent spotting when starting BC

  • I bled every day for over a month when I tried the Depo Provera shot in college. My doc said it might be a hormone imbalance so she added an estrogen patch and it cleared up.

I ended up switching BCs once the Depo ran out though, I hated having to wear a patch.

  • IDK about your pill, but I'm on seasonique and I spot.all.the.time Angry  I freaking hate it so much!  I'm calling tomorrow to change BC pills.  I've been on it since my PP check up back in Sept.  I kept thinking I just had to give it more time to 'regulate'.  Blah I hope this isn't something I have to deal with on any BC I try.  GL and I feel your pain!!
