When to do elective 3d/4d u/s?

We are planning on having an elective u/s to get pictures of LO for keepsakes.  There is a place near us that is a maternity spa and also does u/s.  For those of you who have done/will be doing an elective u/s when will you do it?

I was originally thinking 32-34 weeks but a friend said she had hers done around then and the baby was squished and they weren't able to get good pictures.  Do you think 28-30 weeks is too early?

TTC#3 July 2014 - Metformin +TI = BFP at 9dpo - Twins, one baby lost at 5.5 weeks

    I just scheduled mine and they said to come in at 30 weeks.  I originally tried to set it for 28 weeks and they said the baby gains a lot of fat in the 29th week and 30 weeks is ideal with a singleton.

    I was told 28-32 weeks. I am doing mine at 28 weeks.
    IVF #1 BFN... IVF #2 BFP! TWINS!
    Twins born too early at 23 weeks due to incompetent cervix
    FET #1, IUI #1, 2, 3, 4 - all BFN
    IVF #3 BFP!!! IT'S A BOY! Born July 16th, 2011

    We did ours early, mainly because we wanted to know what LO was. After it turned out that the place was wrong, I wish we would have waited until I was farther along ( did it 16w) Although DW wants to do it again before LO is born. Im thinking 30 weeks?

    MIne was not elective, but a result of a preterm labor scare- but this is 28w2d for us.

    Married in 2/2006, TTC since 3/09 with Endo stage 4(DX 1999) and PCO (DX 2010), DEC, LAP and 2 rounds of Depo Lupron

    • 2/10: IUI #1: Clomid 100mg= BFN
    • 3/10- 5/10: IUI #2 Clomid 150mg; IUI #2.2: gonalf, lupron; IUI #2.3: 2 rounds of 5mg Femara=All cancelled for nonresponse
    • 6/10 -IUI#2.4: gonalf, ganirelix, estrace, ovidrel, endometrium- early M/C
    • 8/10- IUI #3: gonalf, ganirelix, ovidrel, estrace, endometrium, lovenox, hcg boosters= BFP;  Beta#1=179, Beta#2= 360, Beta#3=1775; 1 perfect little HB!

    We are not having them done but I have heard anywhere between 28 and 32 weeks is a good time to do it.  I did call a place local to us and the re-confirmed this to me.

    We were originally scheduled to do ours at 29w, but due to an ice storm that day, the office shut down and we had to postpone to 31w.  At 31w, she was too big and squished so we didn't get any good looks or pictures...it was really disappointing.  I would definitely do it before then...maybe 28-29 weeks.
