VBAC

update to my post a few days ago

Today I talked to the nurse at the drs. office (because I failed the 1 hour test and need to do the 3 hour test - boo). But, while I had her on the phone I asked if she could give me any stats on my dr. regarding his VBAC rates, etc.

She said that she was shocked that he even told me it was ok but that she thinks he just has a hard time saying no to people. They had agreed as a practice to not do them any more and he is the only one that would remotely consider it. He doesn't have any "stats" because he hasn't had anyone do one anytime recently.

I asked her what would happen if one of the other drs was on call (that claim to not do them) and she said she didn't know and I would need to talk to the dr about it (who also said he didn't know when I originally asked him).

I'm fairly confident that I need to switch drs. UGH!! I found a practice close to home that has midwives and drs. and good recommendations on my local board so that is good.

Wish me luck! I lurk on this board and all the information and stories give me hope and courage.

  • Oh, I would switch practices too.  Just go for a consult appointment first. I switched practices after I was told I was the "perfect candidate for a VBAC" by my new practice.

I'm fairly certain that the place you're at now would not fully support a VBAC.

  • I agree with PP that you should probably find a more supportive, open provider. I wish more providers would just be up front about their policies and what they're willing to do. Good luck with the 3 hr test!
