I am switching from GBMC to St. Joseph. Has anyone had a good experience with the Drs. there? I have heard that you see them all instead of choosing to see one. Do I get to choose at some point or will I be seeing a different Dr. throughout my pregnancy?
Re: St. Joseph's Capital Women's Care
You will see all of them since you are pregnant. The doc who delivered my son was Dr. duke (love her) and she is now my perm gyn
They are really awesome.
You can have a primary Gyn, but you'll be cycled through all of them during your pregnancy so that you've at least met each one. The reason for this is because they rotate being on-call at the hospital and there's no telling who will deliver your baby.
I love CWC. Dr. Zern is my primary, but the entire staff is excellent.
Your primary doc will be whoever delivers your baby.
I had a wonderful experience with them for my first pregnancy, but they really couldn't handle my second pregnancy when it became high-risk.
Also long waits in the office for appointments, but overall a great practice as long as you aren't high-risk.

This was not the case when I had my daughter 4-years ago, and was the precise reason for OB patients being scheduled to see each doctor during their care - so that you have a chance to meet them and vice versa in case any one of them delivers your child.
My primary was Dr. Zern. Dr. Buescher was on duty at St. Joe's on the day of my induction, and as such, she was with me all day.
I think she meant that as a new OB patient, your primary doctor will be the one who delivered your baby. For example, if you come into the practice with your first pregnancy they don't assign you a primary until you have your baby. Then whoever delivers you will be the primary.
If that was the intention, then I misunderstood and I apologize!
I had a primary assigned during my third trimester, but that may have been due to the fact that I had complications and I was in there far more often for heavier monitoring than a regular healthy pregnancy. I'd switched to the practice when I was a few months pregnant and don't believe I had a primary prior to the complications being found.
