Pumping and... Jury Duty

I received a juror summons for Hamilton County in the mail for next month. I called the commission office and they told me there is an empty office that I can use for pumping. Any chance anyone else has been as lucky as me? How did it work out?

I am all for performing my civic duty, but I'm not looking forward to dealing with the pumping part.

Re: Pumping and... Jury Duty

  • I was called to jury duty when DD #1 was a couple months old. I was released due to the fact I was nursing.

I had been on jury duty once before that and loved the opportunity and experience so I'm not discouraging you. I just want you to know if you choose not to, that's a valid reason.

  • You'll be fine while you're waiting in the jury commissioner's office.  They have nice facilities.  If you are actually called for a jury pool I would advise the judge during questioning that you are nursing a baby.  One of the first questions most judges ask is whether you have any legitimate reason to be removed from the jury pool.  This should be considered a legitimate reason.  Chances are you won't even make it that far.

  • I do want to fulfill my responsibility, but I also don't want it to turn out to be a huge PIA. When I talked to the commissioner's office, they sounded nice and like it would be easy to pump. We'll see how it goes!
