Hi Ladies! I am 1/2 baked and getting my registry together. I have Baby Bargains, lucie's list and amazon reviews to go off of so far, but your advice is appreciated!
What do you wish you registered for now thta your lo is here? Was there a big miss on your lists? Did you pick something of one brand and wish now you selected another brand? Thanks a bunch!!
Re: Questions from Aug 2011 mom - I wish I registered for ...
Pick up the book "Baby Bargains." It REALLY helps to narrow down things, especially the big items. I've liked everything that I got from their recommendations.
I wish that I DIDN'T register for bibs and blankets because I now have an S ton of them
Miss: The Miracle blanket. It is great if you are extremely dedicated to swaddling. I didn't like it because at 1 am after a feeding, it's a huge pain reswaddling DD. It always wakes her up and makes it harder to get her back to sleep. We also got a wipe warmer as a gift and immediately returned it. I didn't want to have to clean it, refill it etc. Too much work. DD has been just fine with regular non-heated wipes. Lastly recieving blankets were a complete waste. We have never used them.
I too read tons of reviews and did a lot of research on brands and products. We are happy with everything else we got and use. Good luck and congrats!
Burp rags- Use cloth diapers- they seem to be the most absorbent.
I LOVE our diaper genie (some people hate them).
Bottles!!! If you're going to FF you'll go through at least 8 in a day at first. Get the larger ones because the small ones you'll only use for a month or 2 before they'll take more ounces. I LOVE our Avent bottles- we tried several brands that made LO sooo gassy and he would scream in pain, but not with the Avent bottles.
Wipes- You'll go through them QUICK!
Waterproof lap pads/changing table pads
Sleep gowns- so nice for easy middle of the night changes!
I'm sure there's lots more, but those are a good start to a few of the things we love.
Good luck!
Oooh! This! I saw your post the other day and showed DH I thought it was so cool.
Thanks...he really loves that thing and I got a great deal on it from Amazon with free shipping...ok lets stop high jacking her post
Congrats on having an August baby...my older daughter was born on August 12. They are the best....although it was incredibly hot the day I delivered
As far as registering....
Aden and Anais blankets (they are the best for multi use including swaddling...especially in the summer months)
I didnt register for them...and wish i had.
Pacifiers, bottles, packs of pj's that zip and not snap (way easier at 3am diaper changes), we had practically nothing size newborn for clothing they were all 0-3 and huge on LO for 6+weeks, more NB sized diapers, halo sleep sacks, more aden + anias swaddle blankets, bumbo chair, play gym mat, white noise or nature/music sound machine for sleeping.
With things like bottles and pacifiers, I would buy one or two in a variety of brands. You don't know what LO will like so this will give you a variety to try. We went through at least four different bottles before we found one LO liked.
Also, I wouldn't necessarily go buying a bunch of the 8oz bottles right away. I know it doesn't always happen, and perhaps I'm case specific, but my LO is still using the 4oz bottles. She's at about 3 1/2oz now. She is/was a preemie so we've gotten a lot more use out of them than a lot of people. In fact, if I'd realized in the beginning that there were 2oz bottles I might have bought those, too, since when she first came home she wasn't even eating 2oz at a time. Just something to keep in mind.
This is kind of small and silly, but washable nursing pads. I registered for disposable ones, quickly realized how quickly I would go through them, and bought several boxes of washables. I like the washables better anyway, they don't bunch up as much and the adhesive on the disposables doesn't work anyway.
A few things we registered for and loved: Babytrend Snap-and-go stroller (rather than a travel system). Everytime we go out we comment on what a smart decision it was, it's so light and easy to open/close! SwaddleMe wraps have helped with nighttime and naps. I was sceptical about the Diaper Genie at first, but it's great for bedroom diaper changes where we don't take out the trash often.
BFP#2: EDD 2/11/14, MMC confirmed 7/15/13 (growth stopped at 6 weeks), D&C @ 12 weeks 7/25/13
Moby Wrap
BOB Revolution stroller
Bumbo

I wish we had registered for a white noise machine and sleep sack swaddlers. We use both on a regular basis now, but didn't know before DS was born that we'd need them.
