Seriously, if it isn't one thing it's another w/ A. The doc seems to think it's overeating, but seriously it's like someone opens the flood gates and it isn't always when she's had a ton of bm or formula. She does it with soy, reg. formula, and bm. Since the pooping slowed down to normal they don't think it's a milk allergy (& thus cleared us to us milk based formula and bm again). She does eat a lot at a time (3 to 6 oz at a time, roughly every 3 to 4 hours), but if it is an issue w/ amount, what can I do to stop it, just listen to her cry? I am so frustrated. Any one have any thing like this before, have advice?

Re: Projectile vomiting = eating too much?
6 oz. at this point sounds like a LOT to me! Nolan being 7 weeks - now 40 weeks gestation age so thus considered a newborn takes 3.5 ounces every 2.5-3 hours & pretty much never throws it up. I know she is bigger than Nolan by a couple of lbs though also. How much does she weigh now?
Does she still throw up when you give her a smaller amount of food? On the lower end of 3-4 ounces of a time or only when she is taking the higher end of 5-6 ounces at a time?
Is there any difference when you give it to her the 3 vs. 4 hours?
I have no idea but if she is throwing it up & you have figured out it is not a allergy to a "type" of milk it does sound like to me it is probably too much & she is eating to soothe herself. Have you tried offering her a lower amount & giving her a paci?
Wow, 6 ounces? Nora never took more than 3-3/12 ounces at a time at that age.
Nora sometimes overeats at the breast and vomits, but not on a regular basis.
Are you using slow-flow nipples on the bottles?
I have a sister that used to projectile vomit. My mom just had to sit VERY still with her for some time after she ate.
sorry you are having trouble!
Levi was spitting up a lot too in the first couple weeks, it wasn't projectile, but more than we were ever used to with Noah. We've found that he doesn't spit up as much (or at all) if we take many frequent stops to burp him.
When we asked the pedi about it she said if it's just normal spit up, like it just kinda falls out of his mouth and he doesn't strain to do it or it doesn't make him upset then we didn't have to worry about it. She said if it's forceful and makes him upset or looks like it's causing him pain, then that wasn't normal.
Ditto this. Both my DCs were/are spitters. I have a fast letdown and I think this was part of the issue when I BF. DD hardly ever spits up when she gets EBM in a bottle....she takes 4 oz. I think partly because she's sitting up more than reclined. She will also suck a lot on me for comfort and the paci has helped that issue. I have just gotten used to covering myself in a cloth diaper. Yuck!

I am the same way. After having Noah, I thought burp clothes were such a waste becase we NEVER used or needed them....this one is proving that theory to be very wrong!
