March 2011 Moms

WWYD

Since I went on maternity leave DH got a really nice raise that is pretty much equivalent to what I make (we have been REALLY blessed), although becoming a SAHM was always an option, now I feel a little more inclined to stay home with Lily, and kind of feel guilty for wanting to go back to work... Although at the thought of having to leave her, I do want to stay home with her... I am really torn... what would you do?

Re: WWYD

  • I love being a SAHM but there are days that I would give anything to have a workplace to interact with adults all day and to be just "me" for a while.

Any way you can do something part time?

  • If there is a part of you that wants to go back to work then can you go back and see how you feel?

  • Personally I would give anything to just be a SAHM. I am currently working from home and taking care of DD at the same time and it's stressful and I hate it. Just because I want to SAH doesn't mean that's what's right for you though. If you want to go back to work then do it and don't feel guilty about it. Being a SAHM isn't for everyone and that's ok. If I was torn I would go back and see what happens and if you like it stay, if you hate it quit. Or like a pp suggested, you could always just work part time.

This.  Also think about why you want to go back...if it were me and it's for the work I say go for it, if it's for the adult interaction I'd reconsider.

At first it was hard for me to SAH since it wasn't something I'd planned but now I love being able to be here for our kids and can't picture going back anytime soon.  For adult interaction I have coffee dates or lunch with a friend every other week and SS does activities that get me out during the week.

  • i love being a sahm, and will never ever regret it.  i've been home now for 14 years.  i have had odd part time jobs here and there, but i worked around my dh's schedule so there would always be one of us home with the kids.

you won't regret it if you do it, but you might regret it if you never tryWink

The least amount of hours my employer will let me work is 30 hours a week...

BTW: I LOVE the headband your little girl is wearing :)

Thanks. It is from my friend's shop on Facebook here .

I would say if money isn't an issue SAHM what I would do (I am doing). Play dates and moms groups can give the interaction of adults when needed. (That's what I do at least.) =)
