This girl I'm "friends" with on FB (we went to HS together and that's about it) wrote this as her status this morning:
"Hey all...I'm throwing a baby shower for my best friend on may 1st. Not a typical shower though...gonna be partying at the dark room from 4-7! I'm hoping to have quite a turn out for her! Boys and girls all welcome...no presents needed. just come up to the dark room, have some drinks, and help the mom-to-be rock away her last few days of being a preggo!!! Gonna be a fvcking blast!!!!!"
Ummm....awesome. I wish I could've had my baby shower at a bar...
Re: I wish I had a friend like this. I'm jealous.
Can you imagine "rocking the night away" during the last few days of your pregnancy? I would die.
When I was pregnant, "rocking the night" meant going to bed by 9:30 at the latest. The only time I saw 2am on the clock is if I was getting up to pee.
Though a different side of the same card, my SIL's first baby shower was thrown by her mom who wanted it to be "laid-back" so she made it a couples shower. Unfortunately, none of the wives could make it except me an a new gf.
With an uncle as a liquor distributor and about 6 fraternity brothers showing up wife/gf-less, it quickly degenerated to a frat party and SIL was the only sober one. I felt awful and my tipsy self even wrote down all her gifts.
Needless to say, I threw her a very nice, quiet, girly shower a few weeks later from my H's side of the family.
Me too! Let alone that it's in a bar...but who has a shower and doesn't get any presents?! what's the point? You 1) can't drink 2) can't "dance" (more like waddle) and then 3) don't get presents. I would NOT be showing up to that shower!
My Chart
If she's already prepared for baby and just wants to rock out for one last time before she gives birth, more power to her! From the text it sounds like this is an open invite so her family probably already threw her a private babyshower. She probably just wants to celebrate the baby with all her friends and this seems like a great way to do it.
My Chart
Exactly! Also, going to a bar when I was pregnant was on my list of least favorite things to do. I hated drunk people (or even sober people sipping cocktails) back then.
