Pregnant PILATES/YOGA instructors???

I am still teaching my pilates class (currently 33 weeks) I know i should know what i cannot do,..... but i dont. I can't remember.

Any other instructors out there? what position and exercises should be avoided in Yoga / pilates in 3rd tri? I know to avoid supine position.... anything else?

 Its very hard to do the workout and speak at the same time.....so i try to do it on my own time.

  • I am not an instructor but I did Pilates on the Allegro Reformer machine my entire pregnancy.  I did very limited exercises on my back, nothing on my stomach, I stopped climbing the tree in my third trimester because I was afraid I would fall off the box.  I also had trouble getting low when I did Jack Rabbit towards the end.  my instructer modified anything that I seemed to have trouble with, basically I took it class by class.  Would it be possible to teach the class without doing the exercises?    I know my teacher spends a lot of the class making sure students are doing it correctly, at least in reformer.  Even when she teaches mat she sometimes walks around after demonstrating the exercise.

  • I'm also not an instructor, but I've stuck with my regular yoga class until a couple weeks ago. I totally avoid lying on my stomach (which is pretty obvious) and deep twists, especially rotated poses that require balance (which is also pretty obvious, as the belly is in the way). I'm not advanced enough to do balancing inversions, but those are out (no headstands for me). Back bends have to be very gentle as well - I modify poses like camel, and reverse wheel has been out since first tri.

    My instructor and I are both big fans of "listen to your body and don't push too hard". I've still been getting good workouts, but I can tell when something is a bad idea.
