I just had my monthly OB check up and my doctor mentioned some "minor irregularities" (her words) on my last ultrasound.
1) Amniotic bands - which I am totally unsure if she even had the correct terminology because as far as I've read bands are amniotic strings that attach to the baby and mine are at the top of the amniotic sack while the baby is at the bottom and neither are touching.
2) Calcium deposit in the right ventrical of my babies heart. My doctor says this is a marker for Down Syndrome, however I had my IPS testing done and the results came back negative.
I have an ultrasound scheduled for 30weeks to keep an eye on everything, but it just seems so far away. I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this, or have any experiences with the above issues. It would really put my mind at ease to talk with someone who has dealt with this before.
Re: Amniotic Bands & Calcium Deposit
Actually, this is completely normal and common. I think you are talking about an ecogenic focus. A lot of women see them on ultrasounds and it means nothing. It is just a soft marker for downs, and when seen with no other markers, it is actually not considered to increase your risk of downs at all.

Thank you! My doctor didn't explain this to me very well, but just kept saying "She didn't feel worried."
I felt a little bit in the dark even after my appointment, and I was growing more and more concerned throughout the day!
