Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Any ladies take a childbirth preparation class?

and did you have a reunion, so you could all reconnect and meet the babies?  If so, how long after you delivered was the reunion held?

I teach childbirth preparation classes, and want to start having reunions....... I was thinking around 3-4 months postpartum would be a good time. Hopefully some sort of routine has been established and some more sleep is happening........

what do you think?

Thanks!

  • We took a class, but it was only 3 sessions long.  There were no reunions.  We didn't get to know the other parents very well either.

  • We didn't have a reunion, but I would have loved to have had one. We got the phone number of one of the other couples in class and have had a few play dates with them but aren't in touch with anyone else.

  • I would have liked to have a reunion. I think 3-4 months sounds good.

When D was born, he had a slight fever so was taken to the NICU for about a half hour (his fever dropped right away). When DH and I were in there with him waiting to be discharged to the maternity ward, I saw a lady who was in my class that had been pg with twins. Her and her DH were in there holding their little twins. I'm assuming they were born premature.

I would have loved to say something to her, but I had just given birth, LOL, and I didn't want to interrupt her time with her kids.

  • We didn't have a reunion, like others said we really didn't get to know the other parents that well.
  • I did - but it was just 1 Saturday - so we didn't get to know the other couples.

  • I took a Bradley class and we had a reunion about a month after the babies were born (they were all born 2 days apart).  It was a small class, so we got to know each other pretty well, and it was really nice to get together once the babies arrived.

  • A few of the moms from our class got together weekly starting a couple weeks after delivery. It was our way to practice taking LO out. When we returned to work, it was harder to find time to see one another because our work schedules were all different.

  • Funny you ask this, as I am hosting our "Reunion BBQ" this Saturday!

Our class was 7 weeks long, and only had 6 couples in it - one dropped out.  4 of us managed to keep in contact with each other.  All the babies will be 7-8 mo at the party.

FWIW I don't think I had the time/energy to host anything at 3-4mo post partum, but, if you're doing it as the instructor, that might be different.  Less work for those with young babies.

  • We took Bradley classes, so 12 weeks long, and had a reunion.  Bridget was the first one born, the other 5 babies were born within about a month and a half.  B was right at 3 months old, and the youngest was probably 6 weeks.

We got to know the other couples pretty well, so it was nice to get together.  In fact, we still keep in touch and have gotten together since then, and try to plan on it about every other month.
