I think I may be the last, "March" mommy! Original due date of 3/27...Doctor is inducing in the morning. Hopefully we have some progress so I can deliver naturally... he is starting with one dose of cervetec (sp?) and will start pitocin after that if I don't start contracting with the cervetec. If I don't progress with medication, he'll do a c-section in the evening. I had progressed from last week, a fingertip dilated, to a full 1 today (yay!). Doc said he can finally feel baby's head, but baby still isn't all the way dropped....Any advice for the induction process?!

Re: FINALLY!! Baby has an eviction date...
I had the same type of induction process. When I went to the OB on my due date (3/29), the U/S revealed that the baby's amniotic fluid had dropped dramatically, so I checked in to the hospital that night. (I was barely at 1 cm) They did give me the (I think it's called) cervadil that night and that was the most uncomfortable part of my induction. It was administered on something similar to a tampon, but thinner and everytime I moved or went to the bathroom I was afraid it would fall out. But the cervadil gave me MAJOR cramps (which were just as painful as contractions). So I was in pain almost all night, despite the Ambien and pain medication that they gave me. (I held off on the pain medication, but I wouldn't do that again because the cramps were really bad!!)
The next morning they started the Pitocin and my noon I was surprisingly at 4 cm, so I got an epidural and by 1:30 pm I was fully dilated and ready to push. My baby girl was born at 2:42 pm.
My induction went super quick. When I was admitted, they told me to expect to be in the induction for at least 24-36 hours. I was able to eat dinner that night and had breakfast that next morning -- which wasn't the best idea because I ended up puking while pushing.
Best of luck to you!
oh my gosh, you poor thing! best of luck to you. pretty soon, you'll have an outie!
Good luck! I got induced, too... here's the short version of my story:
I was induced at 38 weeks due to pre-e. I was not dilated or effaced when I was admitted to the hospital. I was admitted on Wednesday night. Cervadil was inserted... I ate dinner and went to bed.
Thursday morning, the Cervadil was removed, and they checked me. I was a fingertip dilated. They started the Pitocin. I was on Pitocin all day, and I was contracting, but the contractions never got that intense. At 6 PM I was checked and I was only 1 cm dilated (not sure about effacement, but she said my cervix was still long). They shut off the Pitocin so I could eat dinner and sleep for the night. They put in another Cervadil, and said they'd start the Pitocin the next morning.
Then at 3 AM, I woke up with some cramping. The nurse said it was from the Cervadil. I tried to go back to sleep, but the pain kept getting more intense. They gave me Stadol through my IV so I could sleep for an hour. At around 7 AM, the midwife came to remove the Cervadil. She checked me, and I was 6 cm dilated! Needless to say the Cervadil jump-started my labor and I ended up not needing Pitocin! My little guy was born just a couple hours later!
I like sharing my induction story just to show that it CAN happen-- sometimes once you get the Cervadil, your body takes over and you end up going into labor on your own. Hope the same happens for you-- good luck!
