I'm pale. Recommend your self tanner.

I need something.... some kind of lotion? Or my hairdresser swars by these "tan wipes" which just sound weird to me but I'd try them if they worked.

I did a spray tan last year and it was okay aftter 3-4 days, but the first two I wouldn't leave the house, I was sooo dark it looked weird.

So, what do you use?

  • I really like the gradual self-tanners.  I am really really pale and don't tan for anything.  I used to use Neutrogina's gradual tanner, I didn't care for the smell of the Jergens.  I also like that since it's gradual, if you miss a spot it's not immediately apparent to the general public and you can fix streaks and missed spots pretty easy before it gets darker.  I also never looked orange, I never found a regular self-tanner that didn't look orange on my skin.

  • I used to use something from either Jergens or Neutrogena that was a moisturizer with a glow agent in it.  It worked really well.  I'm super pale...kinda like Casper and I even got a color!!

  • I've used the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze tinted self-tanning lotion-- it works great and looks pretty natural IMO but the only thing I dont like about it is the 1st day you put it on it has this like shimmer in it so you look a little sparkly but it washes off once you shower and often I will wait until its good and set in and then I will just use a wet wipe and wipe off some of the shimmer. Its the best I've used so its worth being shimmery for a day.

The best spray tan I've ever gotten was at Susan's Salon in Alexandria (on 27 by Empress Chili and near the new Tractor Supply). I got a spray tan there (a person sprays you) before my SIL's wedding and it was the 1st one I had ever gotten where I didnt look ridiculous right after. I was actually able to go out in public after I got it without looking dirty and gross and it lasted for a good week or so. Plus its only like $25-30 or something-- I plan on getting one done before I go to the beach for vacation so I dont blind my family with my pale legs haha

  • Ditto pp on the gradual. I have used both Jergens and the Sublime bronze. I do like the Loreal, but in a pinch bought the Jergens "revitalizing" THis is key. Not the firming, not regular but revitalizing. I swear it smells better. I also think they have been tweaking the formula b/c overall each summer it seems to smell better. I also use it before I go to bed b/c I take showers in the morning. That way any "smell" will just wash away.
  • I have used the Jergens as well and have found that the foam doesnt smell as bad to me. I usually put it on at night and let it airdry before I got to bed and do not notice a smell in the morning.
