TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

I need suggestions - still no m/c

I'm really sorry I keep posting about this.  I had some terrible cramping late last week and some over the weekend, but no bleeding.  I'm suppose to call into the RE again today just to follow up with them.  But, when I talked to them about all of this on Friday they suggested that maybe the only bleeding I would have was the light bleeding on Monday and I'm just getting off easy.

WWYD?  Should I assume that I got off easy?  AF is normally a lot heavier than that.  Should I push for a d&c at this point?  Or should I just give it more time?

Re: I need suggestions - still no m/c

  • Definitely talk to them about it when you call today. Since you were so early, I don't know that a D&C would be necessary, but of course I'm not a Dr. (JMHO). Also, for the cramps, I would ask them to get you a Rx for something stronger so you can be comfortable.

    I'm so sorry. (HUGS)

Only way to tell for sure if everything has passed is to request an u/s to check. For my c/p it was like a normal period no clots.  For the 5.5 week loss I saw more (heavier bleeding and clots).

  • If your betas are down to zero, then you may just be "one of the lucky ones" who didn't bleed that much.

Are they tracking your betas? If your betas are stagnant, or even creeping up, I would opt for the D+C.

  • I would have another beta run,and depending on that result either wait it out or request a script for misprostol. I know that's a PITA for you though. Can your RE call in a blood draw order to a lab somewhere closer to you?

I wouldn't do a d&c unless your betas have gone up dramatically. A d&c for a pg with such low betas would be way more intervention than necessary.

hoping you're just one of the "lucky" ones.
  • As of last Monday they said my betas were negative.  So I assume they couldn't have gone back up?  I suppose I will push for an u/s just to make sure.

  • I would ask for a u/s to see if they can see anything.  That should be enough to tell you if you need a D&C.  I wouldn't assume that you do.

And more ((((hugs)))) because you just shouldn't have to go through this at all.

This is what I would recommend.  The US will tell the Dr if they need to do anything more invasive.  Again, I'm so sorry and I hope you are just having an easy time  with the physical part.

  • I honestly would not think that everything is finished from one day of bleeding, especially if your normal periods are heavier and you are still having cramping.  I would discuss this with them (make sure you are not just hearing one nurse's opinion over the phone) to see what they recommend next.

I am so, so sorry that this is dragging out for you.  ((Hugs))

  • They are bringing me in for an u/s on Thursday.  They are a little concerned that the fever is still hanging around.  Even if it's nothing I feel better going in to make sure.

  • I'm glad you are going in, I think the situation calls for more care and checking on their part. I'm so sorry, Kristy, this all sucks hard enough and I hate that it's being dragged out for you.
  • ((hugs)) I'm glad you made an appt to go in for an u/s. I'm so sorry you are going through this. Let us know how your appt goes.

  • I agree with Shemico - you could ask for an u/s to make sure. I know with my early loss at 5w my beta was at 0, and it was like light/normal AF for me.

  • I would ask for an u/s- there is a fairly high chance of infection and worsening bleeding I think with retained POC (products of conception). My mom had a m/c when I was 2 and about 6 weeks after bled so badly she nearly died- Hoping you are just lucky, but I would want to know for sure- good luck-

  • Yeah, ditto PP.  I'd request an u/s.  I'm so sorry this is dragging out for you sweetie.
