Cottage cheese for 8-month old?

We just introduced yogurt and ds loves it.  I'd like to do cottage cheese next but I'm not sure what kind to get.  It seems like most cottage cheese has salt in it - is that ok? And I haven't been able to find any full fat cottage cheese - I think the best I can do is 4%. What do you use?

  • We get the 4%.  I think its the "fullest fat" you can get.  DS doesn't get it every day, bc of the salt content, but a couple times a week for sure, and he LOVES it!  He will eat it on a spoon, but also will pick up the chunks (messy idea, i know)..

  • Hood makes a no salt cottage cheese.  And Breakstone makes a low sodium version.  I have not tried it with LO yet, but sounds like a good idea.
  • I think 4% is equivalent to whole milk.

I just gave DD2 cottage cheese last week. I gave her a little bit of whatever I bought for myself, so either 1% or 2%. She loved it.

Ditto.  We use the Hood brand.

  • My 7 1/2 month old wouldn't eat it. I got a blender and mixed it up with some apple puree and she gobbled it up. I'm sure it's a texture thing.

  • We get the fullest fat we can find and DD has a spponful with her lunch veggie about once a week. She LOVES it!
