I have a fibroid inside my uterus, attached to my uterine wall the size of a baseball. Since my uterus is growing and stretching, it is causing the fibroid to degenerate aka die. In response to the fibroid's blood supply getting cut off and dying, the fibroid was causing my uterus to contract. No bleeding, just painful contractions every 2 mins. Had an u/s and the baby was totally fine, in there tap dancing and swallowing while totally oblivious to my pain

. My OB put me on indomethocin for 3 days, 4x's a day and they pretty much stopped. Has anyone had this issue or known anyone who did?
Re: Fibroid caused me to have contractions
So sorry you're going through that!
While I haven't had contractions I do have fibroids. At my 20 week US they said I have 2....one is 4 inches and the other much smaller. They haven't caused any issues (besides I can feel them cramp up in my belly and that feels weird!), but I'm getting an US every 3-4 weeks to check on their growth.
My doc did say that if they get large enough they can cause early labor so I might experience what you did in the future!
Thanks. Yeah, it was a little scary but glad yours aren't acting up on you. He said the contractions didn't have anything to do with preterm labor, just the fibroid so that put my mind at ease. I'm getting US's during my appts every 4 wks also. At least we get to see our babies more than the average mom-to-be.
Oh, duh, it'd be helpful if I told you her name...it's ijack!
Thanks! That's comforting to hear.
