We just got our new britax seat installed over the weekend and my DDs feet touch the back of the car's seat.. how is she suppose to fit like that until at least 2 years rear facing?? do your LOs feet touch?
Yep, and she's a shorty too. I guess they just sit Indian style. They are super flexible any how. I'd rather have her legs scrunched up than turn the seat forward facing. Honestly, if I could put her back in my belly and protect her, I would. (Sorry, just read an article about a serial killer in NYC; I'm seriously hating crazies right now).
Yes, they do/can/are supposed to. The Britax seats tend to have less leg room than many other seats, but their legs will bend and it's perfectly safe and comfortable Think about how your little one sits when she's playing or on the floor- she doesnt sit upright with her legs straight out in front of her. She sits with her legs bent, crossed, etc. That's exactly what she'll do in her car seat and there is nothing unsafe about it.
Yep - DD has the Britax and her feet touch - she's very long also. I'm glad you had this post because I also thought it wasn't installed properly!
She will be front facing after her birthday though.
Edit: Not sure if US laws are different?? Our carseats state that LO's can and should be put FFing after 12 months or 22 lbs.
"Can" sit forward facing, yes. But definitely not recommended anymore. The AAP says at least 2 years rear-facing, but actually suggests until the child has reached the max the seat will allow rear-facing.
There are tons of posts/articles about this everywhere. Rear facing is FAR safer. No question.

The Canadian laws are slightly different regarding car seats, but it doesnt say that you MUST or SHOULD FF at 12 months or 22 lbs, just that you "can". In fact, Transport Canada recommends leaving children RF until they reach the RF max limits of their seats, much like the recommendations in the US.
Re: do your LO's feet touch the back of the seat?
ok cool - i knew it was the safest i just didnt know if i had installed it right! lol
Maybe we mean Indians from India!
criss cross applesauce!
That's actually what we used to call it. That's not cumbersome at all, right?

I was wondering the same thing. I was really surprised to see people still using the term.
