Honestly Ferber and NCSS did the most for us. I used the Sleep Lady night weaning method (modified) to cut down to 1 feeding which I'm going to get rid of in a few weeks.
We didn't try Sleep Easy just read about it. Read baby whisperer before DD was born and tried it but it just did not work for her.
One thing that made sense in the Ferber book was that feeding at night can make them think they're napping not sleeping and interfer w/ the sleep pattern.
I know hearing the crying is hard and I can't say much b/c DD only cried for 21 min. night 1 but it was worth it for us to help DD get the sleep she needs. However if your husband isn't on board it's not going to work.
NCSS has some good plans for dealing w/ issues and is non-judgmental about co-sleeping, night feedings, etc. and is all about finding what works for your family which was nice.

We're doing Dr. Weisbluth's Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. She cried horribly the first few nights, but it's been great the past 3 nights or so. I tried the "gentler" methods and they just didn't work for us.
I'll be honest, the crying is the so so sad to hear, but I'm glad we made it through. She actually slept about 12 hours the past 2 nights with a few straight hours. Prior to this method, she'd wake up almost every 1-2 hours.
We used the NCSS and Ferber and I highly recommend both books. I tried the NCSS and used parts of it (intro a lovie, etc) but I needed a quicker fix and Ferber fit the bill. I can honestly say within 24 hours of Ferber for both naps and bed, things were a million times better. By 3 days in she was STTN and putting herself to sleep. Heaven! GL!

The first night we tried Ferber, I nursed her but not to sleep, put her in her crib and she went out like a light. When she woke up in the wee hours, we actually tried the 3, 5, 10 minute routine and she just wouldn't go down and the crying got worse. I know what I'm supposed to do and just keep coming back to check on her but I feel like I need reassurance in what I am doing.
Yeh, DS's cries turned to all-out screams. If you're committed to it, and you know he's not hurt or hungry, then stick with it. Have you read the progressive waiting part of Ferber's book? I didn't until after the 3rd night, when I kept seeing more stuff on the web that I hadn't been doing. That's good that you're not nursing her to sleep, but making sure she sees where she is b4 she falls asleep, watching you leave the room, & using the max amount of comfort time when you do go in are really important.
Healthy Sleep actually says not to check on them (I think Ferber does in time intervals, right?). I used to check after X minds, but It actually made the crying way worse, I think I got the hopes up that I'd pick her up.
Re: What are all the sleep training methods?
You have the:
No Cry Sleep Solution
The Baby Whisperer
The Sleep Easy Method
The Sleep Lady
Those are the ones I know of and have read/used. You're right there should be a sleep training board.
Here's a good website google came up with and lists all the different methods.

Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
Thanks snoop, that is really helpful!
THIS ISN'T THE BUMP, THIS IS SPARTA!!!
Which one did you find you liked the best or what worked for you? We tried the Ferber a couple nights ago and DH was no happy about letting DD cry.

I hope things improve. Hang in there. :-)
