Bf question, too much too fast?

I had the lc come this morning and work with me and ds on bfing. I was eping before and I could get 4oz out of each side lo seems to be pulling off a lot and when he does eat he gets fussy. He also hasnt eaten a lot today, only 5 times so far, he only ate this last time cuz I woke him up. He's 10.3# should I worry about how many times he's eating? He gets the required # of diapers a day.

My pediatrician told me not to worry unless there is less than 7 diapers a day. My LO eats every 3-4hrs at night (9-10pm to 10-11am) and every 2-3 during the day. Sometimes she will go 6hrs without waking (she sleeps like a rock and I cant wake her for ANYTHING). I was worried and my pediatrician said as long as she is gaining weight and having 7-10 dirty diapers a day, not to worry.

My new baby is also eating in "sips" it is really annoying, but he has more than enough in his diaper. It seems like he is either getting too much at once or getting distracted. That said "just right sized" babies maybe harder to carry in last tri, but they sleep better (a 9,1 in 2006 and 10,5 on march 30)....at your 2wk appt the doctor will make sure he is gaining enough. It sounds like you are doing everything right baby is just expressing his personality. Good luck.
