Hello ladies. I test my levels an hour after each meal but here is my question - there are MANY times when my lunch is interrupted at work and I dont know whether to test an hour after I started eating or an hour after I finished eating. Anyone know?

I think just about everything about GD diet and testing varies from dr to dr. Makes it kind of frustrating trying to compare notes about the little "rules"

This is the same for me.
I agree with you. My last pregnancy that was their metric, and I always felt like I had to cram my food in as fast as possible.
OP - I would use 1 hr from end of meal until you talk to your doctor and ask what they want you to do.
My book says 1 hour after start of meal, but I have been doing 1 hour after I finish eating for your reason. My meals are often interrupted and I don't get everything in (especially the carbs) at the beginning. In fact, I often save those for last as a "treat".
Starting 1 hour after the first bite could be 15 minutes after I ate a slice of bread and would surely make my #'s falsely high.
Thinking back to the 1 hour and 3 hour GTT, they didn't even start timing until I FINISHED drinking that yucky drink.
I would check with your doctor, it seems every MD is different. For me, I check 2 hours after my first bite of food. Not sure why there are so many different rules.
I don't have GD, but I do have pre-exisiting - and I've been told to check 2 hours after the first bite.
