I'm not ready yet... we had to take DD to the ER when she was 3 days old, and I flipped out at her being exposed to all those germs!
DH's family went out to eat for MIL's bday today, and DD and I stayed home...
I think by sometime next week I'll be ready to take her on a quick errand to Target or Starbucks. I know lots of bumpies have already taken their 2-3 week olds out, but I'm just not ready!
I may take him up to campus this week. With DH home it's the only time I see plausable to drive out to work on registering for the fall... We'll see how the next few days go, he's on 7 days old. If that doesn't happen - other than going on short walks next week, we don't plan on going anywhere until Easter weekend
We took him into my work (Best Buy) a few days after discharge, but he was asleep the whole time; we went to Walmart for a quick outing to get groceries about 12 days, now we've been out a few times and we went to the mall today to get his passport photo!!
We've taken her for several walks outside since she was about a week old. She came to Starbucks with us just before she turned 3 weeks and had her first restaurant trip Friday night at 3w2d. We kept her in her carseat and she slept through both excursions.
I'll be taking her to MIL's for DH's 30th birthday party when she'll be 4w4d. It'll be about 20 adults and I am kind of freaking out about it. I know she'll be passed around a bit and I am just a freak about germs. But the pedi told us that group gatherings are okay as long as there are no kids; and if she gets overstimulated, she's getting fed (and I'll make sure that takes at least an hour) then going in the moby wrap so no one can take her from me.
I took her to walmart when she was 3 days old, to visit my work people at 5 and 12 days old and i will be taking her to my MIL's again (she has three dogs that are indoor dogs) on thrusday so i can celebtate my birthday. i think it should just be a matter of being comfortable with it and feeling well enough to do it
"'Cause baby you're a firework Come on, show 'em what you're worth Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh" As you shoot across the sky-y-y. Baby, you're a firework Come on, let your colors burst Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh" You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe" KP
We took LO out the day we were released from the hospital (we stopped to get lunch). She's been out and about ever since. It's hard to stay at home with older kids who have to be to school/activities.
I took her out for the first time on Friday. she was 11 days old. I know this was a little early for my comfort level, but my pedi said it was fine, and the weather here is gorgeous, and as long as people aren't touching her she should be fine since she's getting lots of antibodies from my breast milk. We made a quick trip to the mall to return a little boy coming home outfit we had bought since we were team green. She stayed in her car seat the whole time with a blanket over top of her. We also went for a few walks this past weekend because it was gorgeous here, and i couldn't stay cooped up in the house! She was in her sling and I carried her close to me.
We went to church yesterday, and again no one touched her, but lots of people were oohing and ahh ing over her. But I'm still leary about letting others touch or hold her outside of the house!
We started going out about once a day when he was a week old. I get cabin fever, so we will go to the store, on a walk around the neighborhood, out to dinner or on little errands. We keep him covered up in his carrier and no one bugs him.
We go somewhere almost every day now. Kiddo loves the car.

Store: 5 days.
Church: 7 days
Restaurant: 7 days
We feel no reason to change our life style based on her age. Our pediatriation doesn't mind. We didnt pass her around and people did not bother her.

Before today, I had only brought him on a few quick errands like to the bank, post office, doctor's appointments, etc.
we went out to eat the day we got discharged from the hospital, this momma needed a margarita!! I took him to the mall at 3 days old.
