My baby did not take a pacifier for 5.5 months.

Now all of a sudden he'll take any pacifier I put in his mouth. WTF? I stopped trying to give him pacifiers but sometimes DH or my mom would try it. He started taking his Wubbanub about a week ago. He was crying pretty hard this evening because I think his gums are bothering him. I stuck a MAM pacifier in his mouth and he was very pleased for about a half hour.

What gives? Is it because he's teething and the pacifier feels good on his gums? Andplusalso, this pacifier business is pretty awesome. DH said it's weird to see D with a pacifier and giving it to him when he's fussing "feels like cheating." LOL.

    I'm jealous!! Charlie never took a pacifier (unless we literally held it in his mouth). Maybe if I tried it now he would like it? (I haven't tried for a month or so).

    I think it's kind of a blessing and a curse. Awesome that it'll soothe him but sh!tty you'll have to break him of it eventually. But for now? Awesome!

    When E was cutting her 2 bottom teeth she was all over the paci. The trend did not keep.

    Abby will take it or leave it, which is great for us. If anything, we force it on her at times. The times it gets her to calm down are worth it.

    That's why I stopped giving it to him! But for now, it's been a sanity saver. I only give it to him when he's fussing pretty hard. And tonight, he didn't want to nurse before bed very long. He ate and then got super antsy. It was weird. I had to rock him with his Wubbanub until he fell asleep.

    I just find it strange he refused a pacifier this long. He loves to switch things up on me, haha.

    Ayla was the same way. She would never take a pacifier and I had also stopped trying, but my mom gave her one (she watches her twice a week while I'm working) and she took it! She doesn't suck on it, she chews on it and she likes to grab a hold of the handle and pull it out of her mouth so that it makes a popping sound. She uses it more as a toy than a soother. In fact when she is crying she wants nothing to do with it, if she does suck on it she usually ends up spitting it out, it's like she doesn't know how to keep it in her mouth unless she is holding the handle.

    Sophie and the pacifier have seen us through the last month and a half. And infant Tylenol. Love infant Tylenol. Teething is the pits and I hope you both get some relief soon.

    Mine will take it or leave it too. If I do give it to her to soothe her before sleep, she spits it out less than 5 minutes after she's asleep. She'll never take it unless she's really tired.

    my LO did the same thing.. it started last week.. i found a binkie and picked it up and he grabbed it out of my hand so i put it in his mouth and he went to town. he never took a binkie before and i tried every brand there was.. i think its b/c of the teething..
