  • We used the upstairs of a local bar, Muggsy's on light st.. They charged me for food and beverages, but not for the space. We only had 30 people though.

  • We're planning on having it at home, I think.  We had a HUGE shindig for DS's baptism @ 2 mos (65 people for the party!) and we have a large porch/yard, so it worked perfectly - everyone hung out in the yard, we had tables set up, etc.  It was nice though b/c we still had our air-conditioned house to offer up to 1 or 2 of our older relatives who were bothered by the mild heat (it was in the low 80s the day of his baptism).

If we would decide we didn't want to do it here, then I'll likely check into local parks w/pavilions to rent, or some of the local restaurants w/ space for large parties.  I would prefer we keep it outside, though, since he has a summer birthday, and it's the perfect time to take advantage of the beautiful weather.  His birthday seems like it will actually be a little less, in terms of attendance, than his baptism was (b/c of friends that we already know will be OOT, family that will not be able to make it, and so forth), so it won't be quite so crazy.

  • At our house- but we split it up into 2/3 separate parties.  We did a playgroup for friends which people brought snacks to, and we did not ask for/expect presents, it was very casual.  We also hosted our family group's monthly happy hour and it was the same sort of deal.

Then we had a family party w/ just family and one other family w/ a DD same age as ours where we had a lots of party food, etc.

  • We only had our immediate families (15ish adults and older kids) so we just did it at home.

  • My dad is a free mason so we used the party room at his lodge.  (And because he is a member we got it for free!)  If that had been booked we probably would have used the American Legion Post in our area.  I have an Uncle that is a member there.

Some churches will let you rent their fellowship hall even if you aren't a member.

  • We had her party at our house, we had about 25 or so people.

I really like to have Annabelle party at a state park, but the weather is so iffy in October.

We had three birthday parties too and while it was fun, it was also exhausting for me!  This year I said that he is only going to have one birthday party, but I am not sure where we are having it.  Last year, we had his friend birthday party at the park and it was a blast!

  • We had LO's party at Gymboree on Rossville Blvd...10 children + their parents, my parents, in laws, and our siblings.

I would suggest a VFW hall, American Legion, maybe a smaller hotel venue, or if anyone close to you lives in an apartment when a rental room, that would be great as well.  A bumpie used a conference room at her sister's job.

  • We had her birthday at home, both her 1st and 2nd.  But we also had small parties.

I would suggest a park - Oregon Ridge has a nice room and a big playground just outside of their building.

  • We are having it at gmas house.  We were going to do a small party (immediate fam only) but that was already 25 people.  We couldn't get away from inviting our neighbors (pretty much a 2nd mother), so that added 4 more people.  At that point, we decided what the heck and invited 5 friends and 6 extended family.  It has become much larger than we wanted or anticipated but with 25 people (parents, sisters/bros--their fam's, and gmas) we decided whats a few more.  Everyone is most likely going to be able to attend too :/
  • 75 people - whoa!! LOL!!

We had her first birthday at my In-Law's house (it's pretty big). I think we had 30 people?

  • We kept it small...just close family and friends...and we had it at home.

Since you are having so many people, I would recommend having it at a park with a pavillion...pretty reasonable to rent.  Renting a hall or a restaurant, unless you have connections, can get expensive.
