Mamas who are done pumping: Storing the pump/parts?

I am done with my Medela Freestyle until bebe #2 comes along and want to pack it away. How did you all store your pumps? I plan to take the battery out, but was wondering if I should try to drain it or leave it fully charged. I plan to put all the clean pump parts in a ziploc bag. I think I may have the original box, gotta try and find it, if not, I was going to put it in a plastic storage bin.

I plan to store it in a spare closet (rather than the garage attic) so that it's temperature controlled (the garage attic gets extremely hot in summer and extremely cold in winter)...anything else I should remember to do?

  • Heh... I think I just put everything in the Medelea bag. I can't remember if the parts are in ziplocks or not... It's in the basement, which stays cool. Should I take the battery out?

I am taking the battery out since that's how it came brand-new. I figure it'll be at least a year before I am using it again, so I want to be sure to do it without ruining it, KWIM?

  • I really don't remember but figured I would have to buy all new parts for the new baby but mines in the attic..with it being about 120 degrees...and I didn't remove the battery.  I might have hubby get it down this weekend.

  • hehe i didn't think to do anything special either! i did put all the parts in a big ziploc bag.  i never did use the battery w/mine, just the big power adapter.  i guess you could call medela and see if there's anything special that needs to be done? but i think just keeping it in a cool place is fine.
