I am freaking out a bit. I accidentally ate a small amount of unpasteurized blue cheese on a salad tonight and only realized it after the fact. How worried should I be??
Not at all. The chances are very low that even unpasturized cheese would have a problem, particularly if it was from a reputable place that handles it well. The cases in my state all seem to be in communities that have different standards of care for food, like immigrants communities where they do things like leave the eggs unrefrigerated in the community grocery.
where did you even find unpasteurized cheese??? are you in France?
Cheeses that have been aged for a certain period of time (at least 90 days?) can be sold in the US if made with unpasteurized milk. The aging is key. We have some unpasteurized blue cheese in our fridge. Don't stress out; it's not the first time a pregnant woman has eaten this.

Ditto...I thought I was on the wrong board for a minute!
