don't know where else to post this question...

One of my friends just had a planned RCS for her second child. Her first child was a girl and she just had a baby boy this morning. I already asked her what she needed and she said nothing b/c friends have passed on so many things. I plan to visit her tomorrow in the hospital and am wondering if you have any suggestions on something unique to bring. I'm posting here b/c she had a c/s and I know that the recovery/needs are different than that of a vaginal delivery (i.e. I know I wasn't allowed anything but clear liquids for 24 hours) but since hers was planned I'm not sure what she might need that she didn't already think of.

Suggestions that I've had that seem good are

1) a sandwich for her husband (DH's idea)

2) a gift for her older child - any ideas on a gift for a 3yr old girl?

  • I could eat right away after mine.  And I was effing hungry after 24 hours of labor with no food and a rough c-section.

If someone would have brought my H a sandwich, but not me, I would have killed them.  :)

But really, I would bring some baked goods or something.  My mom brought me brownies, and it rocked.  It was nice because I could give them to the nurses too, and they liked that.  I also had a fridge in my room, so it was nice to have fresh fruit and stuff like that.

  • my mil kept bringing dh food, and i was hungry, so it was making me really mad.  And at this point i could eat, but the hospital wasn't giving me enough food.

I would take her a crossword book or magazines.  I was really bored since I wasn't allowed to do anything.

  • Thanks, ladies. I was already thinking about bringing her a sandwich as well. The rooms at our hospitals don't have fridges but I could always pick up some brownies or something. I do know that our hospital food is pretty killer and I always had more than enough to eat but it might be nice to have something to snack on.

I wasn't sure about bringing her the books or magazines just b/c this is her 2nd time around and it was planned so she probably already thought of that stuff. Also, her DH is staying with her the entire time so she may not need anything to keep her occupied since she'll have him to talk to.
