So Miss Adelyn has had a small cold all week thanks to my lovely SIL for bringing her sick son to visit after she was born. The past couple of days her cough has gotten worse so I mentioned it at her 2 week check up yesterday and the doctor didn't seem all that concerned since she was breathing fine. Today after I had gotten done with feeding her, she had coughed so much her lips were turning purple so I called the after hours clinic number and she concluded we should go to the hospital to make sure it wasn't bronchitis.
After spending an hour in the er we found out she has rsv. So now we're up on the pediatrics floor for 24 hour observation. They did a chest xray and found she's slightly congested on the right side but if she's gone this long without progressing much then her rsv probably isn't that bad and hopefully stays that way. It's really sad to see her have so many cords attached to her.
ETA Update:
So we're staying another night for good measure. Adelyn was having problems keeping her oxygen levels up. Figured out it was her stuffed up nose. They're going to take her cords off her later and monitor every couple of hours with a small portable machine. So that's good.
My dh is hating that I have to stay another night because our dogs are walking all over him. Apparently they only listen to me so I'm sure my house has turned into tornado alley with the 2 dogs and my 2.5 year old. Good to know my house falls apart without me ;]

Re: My sweet little outside baby is inn the hospital [UPDATE]
Seriously, how hard is it for people to understand that if you're feeling under the weather, even if it's the slightest bit, you shouldn't be anywhere near a newborn.
I hope she gets better soon.

Poor thing! My husband's best friend's wife and kids had RSV without knowing it and visited our newborn! When I found out they had the virus I was pissed and made a frantic call to our pediatrician. So far, she has no signs of anything out of the ordinary.
FWIW, their little boy had to be in the hospital, too, but was discharged quickly and is just fine. Sending positive thoughts your way!
