Pregnant after a Loss

Probably dumb question about pack n plays

Hi, everyone! I'm hoping you all can answer my question...its probably a very obvious answer, I'm just thinking about it too much. What is the advantage of the newborn napper feature that is on some pack n plays? Can't the baby just sleep in the pack n play itself? Or is it more of a convenience thing for DH and me? Thanks in advance for your answers....and for not laughing at me :)

Re: Probably dumb question about pack n plays

  • I like the newborn napper because he's higher up and I don't have to bed down to pick him up. I had a c/s and my back pain is awful (side effect of the spinal) and any type of bending was too hard for me.

My life has a superb cast but I can't figure out the plot.
  • It is more convenient for you.

It's actually pretty hard to get a newborn down to the bottom of the pack'n'play without waking them.  No problem if you have a good sleeper...  But not ideal if you have a baby that wakes easily when you try to put them down.

  • I used a bassinet that a friend let me borrow because the whole c-section thing wouldn't let me bend/pick up DS easily.

  • I have been told that if you get a pack 'n play that can adjust multiple levels itself, then the newborn napper is a waste of money. As long as you set the level to the highest one, the napper only adds a few inches overall to the height of LO.

This. Almost all the pack n plays that I've looked at have the upper level that comes with it, so you don't have to bend down to the bottom. The bottom part is for when they get older.

  • My best friend sent us a travel lite and that's what we were going to use until we were at BRU and saw the newborn napper. It looks soft and cozy and made me feel more comfortable about having her in a smaller space at first. Also the design I was looking at getting came with the napper anyway.
