Hi Ladies! It has been a while since I had Lily and I have been completely engulfed in being a mommy and I haven't been on. I figured I would finally post my birth story and introduce you to my sweet girl!
I went in for an induction Tuesday, March 29th (41w 2d). We got to the hospital at 5AM and I was hooked up to the Pitocin at 6AM. I wanted to go natural but the Pitocin made the contractions super strong and only 45 seconds to a minute apart right off the bat. I could get through each individual contraction ok with the help of DH but I wasn't progressing very quickly and I knew that I wouldn't have the energy to push if I had to work so hard at getting through each contraction. So I gave in and got the epidural. At first it seemed that the epidural was working because I did feel relief but after a little bit I realized that I was still feeling pain in my lady bits. I couldn't feel the ache in my uterus from the contraction but could feel intense pressure down below that was very painful. The anesthesiologist checked the epidural and it was in just fine. He just said that it doesn't completely take away the pain for everyone. I was progressing slowly throughout the day and the nurses kept making me nervous telling me that more than likely I was going to have a C-section because the baby was probably very big. Thankfully I was finally ready to start pushing at 11PM. Pushing was more difficult than I thought it was going to be. I was so exhausted and slightly delirious from the previous 17 hours of pain and trying to get through each contraction that I couldn't concentrate on pushing. Plus I could feel everything. I felt when her head was crowning and when the Dr gave me the episiotomy. But that didn't hurt nearly as bad as the after birth or the many many stitches that they gave me. I couldn't even hold Lily in my arms because it hurt so much and I couldn't stop shaking.
Even though I didn't get my ideal birth experience I did get a beautiful, healthy baby girl and that is all I could ask for. She is definitely the love of my life!
