Anyone experience withdrawls symptoms when going off Lexapro? I have been on it for about 2 months and felt great, so decided a little over a week ago to stop taking it. The past few days, I have had these "jolts" in my face - not sure how to explain it - but it's like a wave of tingling or pressure that lasts only a few seconds and is dizzying. They seem to increase as the day goes on. Also feel a bit nauseas. Anyone experience anything like this when stopping Lex?
Re: Lexapro withdrawl symptoms
You should never stop SSRI's cold turkey!! You should wean off under a doctors guidance very, very slowly. I weaned over 2 months and still experienced some of these side effects. They are relatively common from what I understand but you should contact a doctor to be sure.
Also, just because the meds have kicked in a you are feeling a little better doesn't mean you should go off them. Most patients need to stay on for at least 6 months. You are much more likely to have rebound depressive episodes if you stop treatment so quickly.
