Today I was told that... (mini-vent)

my butt is getting BIG.  

ARGH!  I teach, and it was one of our "grandmothers" (a volunteer aide) that said it. She was walking behind me down the hallway when I heard her say, "Well, you're butt sure is getting big."  

To that I replied:  "No, it's not getting big, it's ALWAYS been big.  I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy jeans, and I'm convinced that these extra 4 lbs. aren't all hanging on my butt." 

She tried to make it better by saying:  "Oh, I just thought it was because you are pregnant.  You just don't look proportional any more."  I just kept walking away.

REALLY???  Not proportional?  Come on!  Don't piss the pregnant woman off!!!  

Geeze!

    My MIL told me I was beginning to waddle when I was 4 months pregnat (last time), I wanted to hit her!

    Good one, I like it :)  I never come up with a good comment on the spot.  It always comes to me 10 minutes too late... Like today I thought, I should have said: "Well it's no bigger than yours!" 

    Between now & October, I'm sure there will be plenty more incredibly thoughtless comments to come.

    I wonder if there is an unknown rule out there that says once you hit 60+, you can say whatever the hell pops into your mind. My boss says that all the time "I'm 60, I can say this stuff and get away with it".

    Perhaps mention her wrinkles next time?

    Just to look them dead in the face and say "why would you think that was an okay thing to say to me?"

    Seriously - even trying to defend yourself or come up with a witty comeback pales in comparison to what a reply like that will leave in its wake.
