I've been on a weight loss program for about a year and a half. Eating about 1200 calories per day and working out in the heart rate range of 135-145 for 30 mins a day, 7x/week. Can I continue doing this in the first tri?
Or do I need to raise my calorie intake right away?
Re: Can I keeping trying to lose weight in the first tri?
1st congrats on your weight loss. But now time for more fresh, healthy food for sure!
Don't worry about the pounds. the last thing you want is an early or underweight newborn and then you would feel so guilty. Ask your doc, they probably have an idea of the additional calorie count based on your height/weight. GL!
My heart is as open as the sky.
Read about it on the blog
2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

I'd say listen to your body. If you're hungry, don't fight it -- eat. You don't officially need to add those extra 300 calories until second trimester, but chances are, your body will tell you that you need to eat more. And be warned: pregnancy hunger is not like dieting hunger. The hunger pains can be intense.
I was eating about 1300-1400 calories a day when I got pregnant and probably added an extra hundred calories or so in 1st tri, continuing to exercise as usual. I only gained 2lbs. Second trimester, though, was another story. I was constantly famished and eating close to 2100 calories/day; I packed on 19lbs. and thought, oh, no, I'm screwed. But then third trimester my appetite stabilized; I could get by fine on 1800 calories and I only gained four more pounds (now up a respectable 25 lbs. with a week to go till my due date.)
So you never know. If you're okay on 1200 calories, make the most of them; make sure you're getting enough protein, calcium, iron, zinc, folate, etc. etc. and you're not just relying on your prenatal vitamins.
And, yes, definitely keep exercising. It's so good during pregnancy (provided you're not high risk, of course.)
Best of luck and congrats!
Being pregnant is definitely not the time to try to lose weight. You need to nourish this little person growing inside of you!
Make healthy choices and discuss with your dr what would be a good weight gain range for you. Don't change your exercise routine, but I would definitely increase your calorie intake. 1200 is quite low to begin with.
The only reason to continue losing weight while pregnant is if you are significantly overweight, have discussed it thoroughly with your ob or cnm, and are working with a nutritionist to hit the right balance.
This is one area where I say - do not listen (just) to internet strangers - be sure you seek actual medical advice.
I think you need to raise your calories. 1200 is the BARE minimum a totally sedentary (which you are not) adult really should be consuming in most cases. With exercise and pregnancy factored in, it sounds too low.
Plus, while you don't technically need extra cals in the first tri, it is my understanding that you should be eating at maintenence and you're surely below maintenence right now.
