Similac Sensitive Moms

Ive seen a lot of moms posting about using this formula (or other brands that are similar) and I'm wondering if your pedi recommended it and your LO was truly "diagnosed" as having a lactose intolerance. Also, are you using the SS for healthy babies or just the SS? I tried the SS and didnt have the best results (more gassy and spit up than before), plus I didn't like that main ingredient was corn syrup (or a derivative of corn syrup) but I am not sure about the one for Healthy Babies. Anyone use that particular one?

Re: Similac Sensitive Moms

  • DS is on the regular SS. He was spitting up his ENTIRE bottles of Similac Advance, and we were away from home (on the weekend) and desperate for some kind of relief for our little guy. DH had to run out for a few things anyway, and he picked up SS to give it a try. Almost instantly, DS started to feel better. We told the pedi about it and she said he should stay on it. So, while he wasn't officially diagnosed with lactose issues, he has done really well on it. I was also concerned about corn syrup as the 1st ingredient and have been meaning to ask the pedi about it- thanks for the reminder :)

  • Hannah is on SS. We tried many types of formula and this one seemed to work the best for her and she eats it better than some of the others. She has spit up and gas issues and I think it's working well. The docotr is aware of the formula we use and doesn't have an issue with it.

  • I have a 7 week old baby girl and I never seen a baby that can spit up like mine, the doctor recommended SS, so I gave it a try, needless to say not only my daughter was spitting up twice more, she was also contipated, sometimes would take her  3days to poop, when i mentioned to the doctor he said that up to 5 days was normal, I got so upset that I went out and bought Soy formula, and let me tell u, its working wonders, she hasn't spit up like she used to and her poop is on a schedule now (2 to 3x a day). So maybe u should try soy, sometimes babies have intolerence to milk as well; I did that only because I have a 6 year old as well and her doctor had recommended that at the time when she was having terrible gas.

    Good luck to you

  • My son gets bm and ss the regular kind. The advance was horrible on his tummy. We were desperate to try something else so we went a bought a can to give it a try and it was the best change we made for him. I hate that it's really foamy but when i mix it with bm it is a lot less foamy. I talked to his dr about it and she said stick with it was long as he is doing fine.
