I plan to paint the lower portion of the walls in our nursery light green, then a chair rail, then the upper portion a light blue for sort of a landscape feel. I'm just not sure where to make the break from one color to the next. And I need to decide ASAP because I'm ordering a mural that will go above the chair rail and need to determine the height.
From my research, 36 inches from the floor is the standard height for a chair rail. But when I look at pictures of nurseries, most of them do the color break around the height of the crib. The crib we have picked out is 47.5" and we have 9 foot ceilings.

Re: Height for Chair Rail/ Two Color Room
This is what we did. We used the standard chair rail height.
Sorry the picture is so huge I dont know how to not make it do that.
We did beadboard and chair rail and I had the same question, but slowly realized there actually is no standard height. I think we ended up at 42".
