NBR: DH needs some advice

DH is belongs to a Fly Fishing club, they are having a club outing ( fishing trip) in May.  DH is going alone and taking our trailer. He will be gone Wed-Sun. One of the members of the club asked since DS and I were not going if he could stay with DH and bring his dogs.

DH does not want to have him stay with him in the trailer and doesn't want his dogs in there either.  (Personlly, I thought it was rude of the guy to invite himself and his dogs to stay with hubby but that is just me).

So DH is asking how he should tell the club member no.  I told him to just tell him there was not room in the trailer but I think he is hoping for something better.  Suggestions?

Thanks!

  • Can he tell the guy that you guys might still possibly come?  That's what I would do.  It's a white lie, but its your camper.  ;)

This would be brillant except we have 2 dogs and the guy knows it.

  • I was thinking the allergy route too.   Do you let your dogs in the trailer?  Maybe he could just say "you know, my wife won't let the dogs in the trailer - you know how women are!"  :)

I'd go with something like this.  Sometimes hubby and I are each other's excuses when we need to be.  :)   Although the no dogs excuse might mean that the guy will ask if just HE can stay in the trailer, so your hubby might need to be prepared for that.

  • I told him to blame it on me. Or to say there is not enough room and only one bed, which is sort of true since DS sleep in a PnP at this point.

oh, I like this.  I also would tell DH that he can blame me.  That I didn't want dirty dogs in my stuff. :-)

  • I would leave it in the air as to you guys *might* join him on the trip. Or he could say, this trip is his "me" time and since having a baby, he hasn't gotten much time alone. This was to be his weekend of solitude. Sorry, but he had been looking forward to his alone time.

  • I wanted to say, that my DH also belongs to a fishing club. He LOVES going to the meetings and going to the club derbys. His isn't fly fishing though, they are all about the salmon, halibut, shrimp, clams, crab etc. But it's all fishing! Lol

I agree it was rude of him to invite himself. Especially to stay overnight with your DH!
