We got one because DD hated cold wipes when she was under 3 months. But in the short time it takes to move the wipe from the warmer to baby's butt, its already cold again. I would have taken it back if I'd kept the receipt.
I got one as a hand me down from a cousin. I used it to keep the wipes warm for maybe a month back in the NB stage. I kept it and still use it on the changing table, but not to keep the wipes warm, I don't plug it in, I just use it to keep the wipes in because I buy the huge refill packs and don't want to use the plastic tub they come in. The wipes warmer is more sturdy and just looks nicer But definitely warming wipes is not a must do thing.

Not necessary at all and kind of silly, if anything you're just starting bad habits since LO will always want warm wipes. Then again, I'm an evil mom, I don't warm up his formula or baby food. Even during a cold MN winter our wipes have been room temp and we've never had a problem with any changing - middle of the night or not.
I hate ugly wipe containers also, so I just used some leftover matching fabric and covered one of the big containers - easy peasy. We buy the big packs of Pampers Sensitive Thick and refill as necessary.

I guess I'm playing the contrarian here. While I don't think it's necessary per se, there are multiple benefits. We got one, since DS was going to be born in the winter (October) not knowing if it would be worth it or not.
We got the price lionheart one from Target, and haven't had a dry wipe ever, as some people complain about. The directions tell you how to avoid it (there's a pad at the bottom that you soak for a minute in water when the stack of wipes runs out.)
The benefits are that you can buy your wipes in bulk, and simply pop a small stack in when you need them. We buy the Huggies natural care refill packs, and they last a long time, and I don't have to worry about all the plastic containers, or wipes drying out because those don't close all the way.
The warmth is great to clean off bottoms, but I've also been known to run a wipe over baby's head, hands, or face/body (cause let me tell you, milk gets everywhere!)
I never dealt with DS "not liking" cold wipes, as I obviously don't keep a wipe warmer in the diaper bag, and I've never had a problem using "cold wipes."
I guess bottom line is that it can be a nice thing to have, but isn't necessary- unless you have a picky baby right up front at birth. and then you might not want to be stuck without it!!
Not necessary - frankly I think it's a waste of power and money in general. DD doesn't need warm wipes. It's not like the wipes in her diaper bag come out warm.
Save yourself the money and space! Don't do it!

Absolutely NOT necessary. For all the reasons listed above. As a microbiology major and pediatric RN, I thought I'd add though, that by heating the wipes, you are providing the ideal environment for bacteria to grow. Not what I'd want to expose my LO's sensitive areas to.
waste of money! I got 2 at my 1st baby shower and ended up returning them. I knew that if we went out and LO had to be changed that there wouldn't be a wipe warmer around.
We have never used a wipe warmer. Normally, wipes work really well. And I use Mustela Phyiobebe No-rinse cleasing fluid to help clean up the poopy diapers.

Not necessary bit I got one. I want to keep those middle of the night changes as pleasant as possible!
This!
There are so many people with so many different opinions on this. You hear people say how they dry out wipes, are fire hazards and how babies become used to the warm wipes...... The wipes warmer does NOT dry out wipes, unless YOU forget to get the moisture pad wet when refilling the wipes, in which case it could also become a fire hazard. My little one hasn't become used to warm wipes and screams every time I use cold wipes... but she does scream if I use cold wipes at night, in which case the wipes warmer is sooo nice. There is nothing worse than waking up a LO with a cold wipe. I love my warmer and wouldn't trade it for anything.

We got one as a hand me down and one as a gift, I returned the gift and have yet to plug in the hand me down... DD has been fine with her room temperature wipes
We don't have one. I don't really have an opinion one way or the other on them, we just have a small nursery and I didn't put anything that wasn't necessary in his room.
For all of you who are concerned about middle of the night changes, if your LO doesn't poop in the middle of the night, you very well may find yourself changing that diaper or two without wiping them, making the warm wipe a moot point.

Nope between mold and drying wipes out not something
I wanted to waste my time and money on when you don't need them warm.
totally useless! we didn't get one
during the winter we just warm them with our hands, when is warm DS actually likes the cool wipe, he coos and smiles when we clean him
